Rice to welcome Owls back home from World Series at 2 p.m. at Reckling Park

Fans of the Rice Owls are invited to give the team a heroes’ welcome as they return from the College World Series (CWS) at 2 p.m. today at Reckling Park on the Rice University campus. The baseball team, which won the 2007 Conference USA and NCAA Super Regional, made its second consecutive trip to the CWS. A couple of tough losses to worthy opponents in Omaha denied the Owls their second national title, but throughout the course of a great season, the players showed what it is to be good sports, spirited competitors, caring and compassionate human beings and true student-athletes. News media are welcome to cover the pep rally as the Rice community shows how proud it is of the team, which finished the season with a 56-14 record. Fans can park in West Lot 4 near entrance 8 on University Boulevard.
