The symposium will also honor the recipients of Hamill Innovations Awards and IBB Medical Innovations Awards. The Hamill Innovation Grant program is designed to foster collaboration among IBB specialists from varied disciplines by providing seed funding for research projects.
First year for medical innovation awards
This is the first year for the IBB Medical Innovations Awards, which fund new research on which Rice faculty and researchers within the Texas Medical Center collaborate. Award recipients from Rice include Michael Diehl, assistant professor of bioengineering and chemistry; Jane Grande-Allen, assistant professor of bioengineering; Rebecca Richards-Kortum, professor of bioengineering; Graham Palmer, professor of biochemistry and cell biology; and Mary Ellen Lane, assistant professor of biochemistry and cell biology.
Cash prizes will be awarded to the best poster presentations. Students interested in presenting a poster at the symposium must e-mail the title and name of the author to ibb@rice.edu by July 9, indicating whether the presenting author is an undergraduate, graduate or postdoctoral fellow.
All guests and family are welcome to attend the dinner and should RSVP to Kimberly@rice.edu by July 9.
