Skin-cancer screenings are back

Skin-cancer screenings are back

The free skin-cancer screenings are back and all benefits-eligible faculty and staff are encouraged to schedule one.

One of every three cancers diagnosed in the United States this year will be skin cancer. The risk to skin is greatest is summer because ultraviolet rays from the sun are strongest then. Fortunately, the most common types of skin cancers have a cure rate of more than 95 percent when detected and treated early.

Appointments are available 8 a.m.-4:20 p.m. Aug. 17 in the Rice Student Health and Wellness Center, located next to the Brown Master’s House and Brown College. A dermatologist will perform the examination.

Contact Tiffany Scimmons at tlscimmons@rice.edu or 713-348-4092 for an appointment.
