Living with information technology
The new school year brings changes and new experiences. The information technology (IT) department is no different, bringing new services and learning experiences for faculty and staff alike.
New services
Previously,
some computer labs were reserved through IT. Starting this fall, all
reservations for classrooms and computer labs will go through the
Office of the Registrar. To reserve a room online, go to http://www.rice.edu/registrar/classroom/room_request.html. For details, contact Chris Higgin at chiggins@rice.edu or call 713-348-8026.
Oracle Calendar now synchronizes with NetID so Rice students and employees may coordinate these two programs. Go to http://apply.rice.edu/,
select ”Account Maintenance” and then ”Change/Sync Password.” From
there, login and scroll down to the ”Resynchronize” button to link your
accounts with your NetID.
New training
Register
for OWL-Space training and learn how to use Rice’s course management
and collaboration tool. Sessions for this popular web application can
be found at http://www.rice.edu/vpit/news/owlspacetraining.html.
In addition, instructors who are intimidated by the new
technology-enhanced classrooms many want to learn how to better use the
podiums. Faculty may go to http://www.rice.edu/vpit/news/podiumtraining.html to sign-up for training.
