Fellowship winners announced
Micah Green, postdoctoral research associate in chemical and biomolecular engineering, has received the Evans Atwell-Welch Fellowship for 2007. His research proposal for this fellowship is titled “Microstructure Control in High-Performance Fibers Derived from Single-Walled Carbon Nanotubes.” He joined Rice in September to pursue his research under the guidance of Matteo Pasquali, associate professor in chemical and biomolecular engineering and in chemistry.
Wei-Shun Chang and Joong-Wook Lee, both postdoctoral fellows and also candidates for the Evan Atwell-Welch Fellowship, have been awarded partial Peter and Ruth Nicholas Fellowships. Chang will work with Stephan Link, assistant professor of chemistry, on “Exploring the Potential of Carbon Nanotubes (CNTs) in Medicine: A Single Molecule Study of CNTs as Transporters for Drug Delivery.” Lee will work with Daniel Mittleman, associate professor in electrical and computer engineering, on “Nanometer-scale Vibrational Dynamics in Biological Membranes.”
