Walk for Rice women’s sports Oct. 27
Fans, friends, family and neighbors of Rice are invited to don their walking shoes and Halloween costumes and join the Owls for a morning of exercise and Halloween fun Oct. 27 at 9:30 a.m. at Rice Stadium. That’s when the annual ”Stepping Out For The Owls” walkathon will be held to benefit Rice women’s athletics.

Participants are encouraged to ask for sponsorships or for pledges on a per-lap basis. Each walker will have 60 minutes to complete as many laps of the stadium concourse as possible. A maximum of 12 laps will be allowed. Current Rice student-athletes and coaches from all of the women’s programs will walk plus lead special activities for children.
Walkers receive a T-shirt, two tickets to see the Rice women’s basketball team host Arkansas-Little Rock Nov. 20 at 7 p.m. and an invitation to attend the volleyball team’s Oct. 28 match against East Carolina. Prizes will be awarded to the top fundraiser and runners-up, best costume and other categories.
The Women’s Athletic Advisory Board (WAAB), which advises, supports and enhances women’s athletics at Rice University, hosts the walk-a-thon and the Rice Golf Classic each year to raise funds. Last year, these two events produced more than $52,000 for Rice women’s athletic programs.
