Construction updates
The Department of Facilities, Engineering and Planning has provided a construction update for its major on-campus projects as of Oct. 17.
Duncan and McMurtry colleges:
Foundations for the large cranes necessary for the construction effort were poured this week. Utilities work and tree relocation is also under way. During the week of Oct. 22, the cranes will be erected and utilities work and tree relocation will continue.
Pavilion/Central Quadrangle:
Work on the Brochstein Pavilion basement continued this week, and preparation on the building pad will begin.
Next week, perimeter drainage installation and backfilling around the basement is planned. Building pad preparation and drilled pier installation will also occur during this time.
Autry Court Renovation:
Demolition of the interior of Autry Court is under way and will continue through the second week of November. Pending the release of the foundation permit by the city of Houston, the forming of foundation beams and infill building should begin.
South Plant:
Construction of the main building is under way, along with work on buried utilities to the south. Tunnel construction has entered the Alumni Drive area and is proceeding south and will continue for the rest of the year. Underground plumbing and electrical work are scheduled to start Oct. 22.
