Crews work on assembling the new scoreboard for Rice baseball at Reckling Park.

The older scoreboard was disassembled and removed in January. The new scoreboard is similar to those in professional sporting venues, with updated amenities such an LED screen that will allow spectators to see their favorite players up close and will also show Owl Cam images of Rice fans throughout game. The board, named for Wendel D. Ley ’32, is 27 feet tall and 58 feet wide.

It will be fully operational before the Rice Owls go to bat Feb. 26 against Texas A&M Corpus Christi.
