Lars Lerup, dean of the School of Architecture and the William Ward Watkin Professor of Architecture, will give the keynote address at the “New New Towns” conference in London, sponsored by the Architecture Foundation.
Antonios Mikos, the John W. Cox Professor in Bioengineering and Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering, has received the 2008 Outstanding Chemical Engineering Award from the Purdue University School of Chemical Engineering for his leadership in fundamental and applied chemical engineering research and long-standing influence in shaping the chemical engineering profession.
Pearson Prentice-Hall has published “Biomaterials: The Intersection of Biology and Materials Science,” a textbook by alumna Johnna Temenoff ’04 and Antonios Mikos, the John W. Cox Professor in Bioengineering and Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering.
“City Scenes,” a set of three orchestral dances by Karim Al-Zand, the Lynette S. Autrey Assistant Professor of Composition and Theory, was recognized by the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers Foundation for special distinction.
“Eye on People,” a brochure by the School of Social Sciences, and the School of Humanities magazine each received a Gold ADDY Award from the Houston Advertising Federation.
