McCain to speak at Baker Institute
New ticket information available

FROM RICE NEWS STAFF REPORTS

Event information: Possession of a ticket guarantees you entrance into Baker Hall for the event, but does not guarantee you a seat in Dore Commons.

There is a room designated for overflow in Baker Hall, so please plan on arriving early if you want a seat in the Commons. Once that venue is full, all guests will be directed to the overflow auditorium. Check in will begin at 7:45 AM and no earlier.

Rice University and the James A. Baker III Institute for Public Policy recently extended invitations to presidential candidates Clinton, Huckabee, McCain, Obama and Paul to participate in on-campus town hall forums. So far, Republican Sen. John McCain has accepted and will appear at Rice from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 28, in the Doré Commons of Baker Hall.

Tickets for the event are free to the Rice and Baker policy communities. However, they are extremely limited and will be distributed by a combination of invitation and lottery. Those unable to attend the event are cordially invited to watch a free video simulcast at www.bakerinstitute.org or on campus cable. This event is not open to the general public.

Faculty and staff wishing to request a ticket may send an e-mail to bipprsvp@rice.edu any time before 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 26. A lottery will be conducted among those requesting a ticket, and successful applicants will be notified in time to pick up their tickets on Wednesday.

Should additional presidential candidates accept Rice’s invitation to participate in town hall forums, details will be posted here on the Rice University Web site.
