FROM RICE NEWS STAFF REPORTS

As part of its Bridge Builders Lecture Series, the Boniuk Center for the Study and Advancement of Religious Tolerance at Rice University is bringing Rabbi Shmuel Goldin to Houston. A man known for fostering dialogue between the Israeli government and the American Orthodox community, Goldin will offer his insights on interfaith issues in Judaism and world religions from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. March 4 at the Emery/Weiner School.

In his talk, “Why Can’t We All Just Get Along: An Orthodox Rabbi’s View on Pluralism,” Goldin will also discuss his experiences forging dialogues in the Israeli-Arab peace process and his work with Shvil Hazahav, a national membership organization of Orthodox Jews representing a moderate voice within the American Orthodox Religious Zionist Community.

Goldin is a founder and acting chairman of Shvil Hazahav, which recently has been instrumental in talks between the Conservative and Reform branches of Judaism in the United States.

The lecture is free and open to the public. The Emery/Weiner School is located at 9825 Stella Link. For more information, contact Calvin Preece at calp@rice.edu or 713-348-4536.
