Several recent e-mail hoaxes have requested personal information, including Rice passwords. Do not reply to these or any e-mail that asks for passwords or other personal information. No Rice representative will ever ask for an employee’s or student’s Rice password.
Other universities, including Carnegie Mellon, Duke and Purdue, have been experiencing similar hoaxes.
Additional information can be found in the “Don’t Tell” document at www.rice.edu/it/security/ImagesDocsPdfs/DontTellPassword.pdf.
Questions should be directed to the Help Desk, 713-348-HELP (4357).
