Earth Science’s Masiello to present next Natural Sciences Dean’s Lecture
Carrie Masiello, assistant professor of Earth science, will present “Biogeochemistry of Charcoal in the Environment: Carbon Cycle Roles and Carbon Sequence Options” at 4 p.m. March 19 as part of the Wiess School of Natural Sciences Dean’s Lecture Series. The lecture will be held in Howard Keck Hall, Room 102, with a reception afterward in Room 206.
Masiello will discuss the role of black carbon –charcoal and soot — in the Earth’s carbon cycle and regional soil ecology and its potential as an effective tool to reduce the atmosphere’s CO2 concentration.
