Rice alum gets the Fortune 500 spotlight

CAMERON McGRIFF

Rice alum Cameron McGriff ’07 is featured in the “faces of the future” column in the May 5 issue of Fortune 500 magazine, which is on newsstands now.

The Hanszen College bioengineering major is now a mergers and acquisitions specialist for IBM in Armonk, N.Y.

He was picked by the magazine as one of the “corporate climbers, recent hires and unsung underlings” at Fortune 500 companies. The honorees are under the age of 30, and most have been in their positions less than a year. The magazine canvassed the newest talent at “the 500” in search of “a slew of aspiring C-suiters just joining the ranks, and even more already carrying out the work at the bottom that helps make life at the top worth living.”

In a quote accompanying his photo, McGriff notes that the late-night projects he works on at IBM remind him of college life. “Sometimes, I find myself working at home and when all my energy is spent, I doze off on my bed, with my laptop watching over me as I sleep.”
