Commencement set for May 10, rain or shine

Rice University’s 95th commencement will be held Saturday, May 10. The ceremony will begin at 8:30 a.m. in the Academic Quad, with International Rescue Committee (IRC) President George Rupp presenting the commencement address.
Rupp, a former Rice president, will share some his incredible experiences leading the organization that has established a global network of first responders, humanitarian relief workers,
health-care specialists, educators, community leaders and volunteers to
provide shelter, clean water, health care and education to millions of
people whose lives have been disrupted by violence and oppression.
Commencement weekend will be full of activities, including the Class of 2008 convocation, the Shepherd School of Music presidential concert and a presidential reception for students, their guests, faculty, staff and friends. These events will begin at 7:45 p.m. Friday, May 9, in Alice Pratt Brown Hall and will be followed by a fireworks display in the Rice Stadium parking lot.
