 JEFF FITLOW
Maria Pedraza, a custodian in Facilities, Planning and Engineering, hit
the jackpot this week as the winner of the “Best Places to Work” iPod
Shuffle Raffle. Pedraza was among the 663 Rice staff and faculty who
last month took the Houston Business Journal’s annual “Best Places to
Work” survey.

“Thanks to everyone who took the time to participate in the survey,”
said Mary Cronin, associate vice president for Human Resources. “It
provides us with valuable feedback on what we’ve accomplished to date
and what we need to improve upon in the future.”

For two years in a row, Rice University has been named one of Houston’s
“Best Places to Work” by the Houston Business Journal. Rice will
receive a summary of the employee feedback when the Houston Business
Journal releases the results of the 2008 survey this summer.
