Hutchinson was remembered during a memorial service Aug. 26 in Grand Hall, Rice Memorial Center. |
She
grew up on the Rice campus during her parents’ lengthy tenures as masters at Wiess and Brown colleges.
“A beloved member of the Rice community, Emma touched the lives of hundreds of Rice students, as she touched the lives of so many of us,” said Robin Forman, dean of undergraduates.
Donations may be made to a fund in Emma’s name that will be established at Texas Children’s Hospital.
Warren died Aug. 27 from complications of heart surgery. He was 67.
He joined Rice in June 1989 and for the past 15 years had been working as a user support specialist in the Administrative Systems Department.
“Anyone who received a paycheck from Rice was touched by his work,” said Renae Scott, director of Infrastructure Support & Product Management and Warren’s supervisor. The man who did the behind-the-scenes work processing those and other checks “really enjoyed his work and will be greatly missed,” she said.
A certified pilot, veteran of the Armed Forces and a “very proud” Texan, Warren is survived by his wife, Diana Wilde Warren; his daughter, Denise Lee Warren Khan; and sons Kenneth Ray Warren and Quentin Allen Warren.
Warren’s funeral was held Aug. 29 at Woodlawn Funeral Home.
