Symphony, chamber concerts set for first weekend in October

The Shepherd School of Music Symphony Orchestra will perform at 8 p.m. Oct. 3 and 4 in Stude Concert Hall, Alice Pratt Brown Hall. Under the baton of Larry Rachleff, the Walter Kris Hubert Professor of Orchestra Conducting, the orchestra will perform Berlioz’s “Le corsaire, Op. 21,” Wagner’s “Prelude and Liebestod” from “Tristan und Isolde,” Smetana’s “The Moldau” from “Má Vlast” and Janácek’s “Sinfonietta.”

Tickets, which are $8 for students and senior citizens and $10 for general admission, are available at 713-348-8000.
