United Way campaign starts strong
Rice achieves nearly 20 percent of goal
In its first week, Rice’s 2008-09 United Way campaign made an impressive start, achieving nearly 20 percent of its $100,000 campaign goal with pledges and contributions ranging in size from $5 to $2,500. With 11 weeks remaining in the campaign, the School of Natural Sciences leads the campus in funds raised with $5,470, and Public Affairs Division leads in participation, with 19 percent.
In the aftermath of Hurricane Ike, the community has never needed the United Way more, and the United Way has never had a greater need for strong support from Rice.
