Congressman takes Smalley tour

| Rep. John Culberson of the 7th Congressional District visited Rice University Feb. 18 for a tour of the Richard E. Smalley Institute for Nanoscale Science and Technology, where he learned of the institute’s progress toward bringing its armchair quantum wire (AQW) project to fruition. Expected to be the foundation of the efficient power grid of the future, AQW will be able to carry electricity over great distances with little loss, which today’s copper-based grid is incapable of.
Culberson, front and center, took time to pose for a group photo at Dell Butcher Hall’s amphitheater with all of those at Rice involved in AQW’s development. |
