Web Services launches new FIS system

Web Services launched an upgraded version of Rice’s Faculty Information System (FIS) Wednesday. The FIS was designed to record faculty accomplishments, including research, publications, teaching areas, awards and service activities for each calendar year. The system is used to generate a number of internal reports such as the Annual Report to the Provost, as well as public Web pages, including the Scholarly Interest Report.

Users can access the new system at http://faculty.rice.edu. Login requires a Rice NetID, an employee number and a password. Hands-on training will be offered in the fall, and 90-minute informational training sessions are slated for:

  • May 26, 2 p.m.
  • May 27, 10 a.m.
  • June 3, 10 a.m.
  • June 4, 10 a.m.

All sessions are in the Mudd Building, Room 105. Those interested in attending should RSVP to webservices@rice.edu.
