People, Papers and Presentations

The Rice/HARC Initiative for Climate Education has received a two-year $150,000 grant from NASA for a project to improve student achievement and interest in the science related to Earth systems and global climate change. Wallace Dominey, director of K-12 Outreach in the Center for Education, is the principal investigator on the project. The initiative was one of 22 proposals funded nationally and the only Texas project funded.

Farinaz Koushanfar, assistant professor in electrical and computer engineering, has been invited to the National Academy of Engineering’s 2009 U.S. Frontiers of Engineering symposium. The symposium will be held in Irvine, Calif., in September.
