Rice alumnus named interim president of Texas A&M
Rice alumnus R. Bowen Loftin has been named interim president of Texas A&M University.
Loftin holds a master’s (’73) and a doctorate (’75) in physics from Rice. He earned his bachelor’s in physics from Texas A&M in 1970.
Since May 2005, Loftin has been vice president and chief executive officer of Texas A&M’s branch campus in Galveston, where he is also a professor of maritime systems engineering.
Loftin will serve as the interim president of Texas A&M while a national search for a president is conducted.
