Ralph Cicerone, right, president of the National Academy of Sciences, chatted with Neal Lane, left, the Malcolm Gillis University Professor and professor of physics and astronomy, before the 13th annual Harold E. Rorschach Memorial Lecture, which Cicerone presented this week at Rice. In his talk, “Climate Change and Constraints on Energy Policy and Practices,” Cicerone reviewed evidence of climate change and the underlying physics of the greenhouse effect. The annual lecture is sponsored by the Department of Physics and Astronomy, chaired by Barry Dunning, in the background, the Sam and Helen Worden Professor.
