Negotiation tactics

Rice faculty members Kathleen Matthews, left, and Rob Raphael, right, shared their own experiences Monday during the Rice ADVANCE program’s annual workshop, “Negotiating the Ideal Faculty Position.” The session provided a unique opportunity for prospective women faculty from across the country to learn about academic career issues from some of Rice’s top faculty. Matthews is the Stewart Memorial Professor of Biochemistry and Cell Biology; Raphael is an associate professor in bioengineering.
