People, Papers and Presentations

Barbara White Bryson, associate vice president for Facilities Engineering and Planning, was a presenter and panelist for the ”Harvard Explores Integrated Project Delivery” symposium Oct. 22-23 in Boston. The two-day symposium was sponsored by the Harvard Business School, the Harvard University Graduate School of Design and the Harvard University Allston Development.

Sid Richardson College junior Matthew Diasio was awarded a Merit Award scholarship from the National Society of Collegiate Scholars (NSCS). The scholarships are awarded to 50 outstanding new NSCS members out of hundreds of applicants nationwide. NSCS a member of the Association of College Honor Societies and is the nation’s only interdisciplinary honors organization to invite first- and second-year students to be members.

Jonathan Lo, a senior in the George R. Brown School of Engineering, has been awarded the 2009 American Institute of Chemical Engineers’ John J. McKetta Undergraduate Scholarship Award. The award is presented annually to one student from those nominated by universities across the nation. It is based on leadership and activities in the student’s American Institute of Chemical Engineers local student chapter, as well as other university-sponsored activities.

Roland Smith Jr., associate provost and adjunct professor of sociology and of education certification, was one of six recipients of the 2009 Harvard Alumni Association (HAA) Awards presented Oct. 22 in Cambridge, Mass. The awards recognize outstanding service to Harvard University through alumni activities. Smith has served as an HAA appointed director and as a regional director for Texas, and he has chaired the HAA Graduate Schools Committee. In 2008 he received the Harvard Graduate School of Education Alumni of Color Achievement Award.
