Shepherd School to hold two free concerts
The Shepherd School of Music will present two consecutive nights of free concerts in December.
On Dec. 3 the Shepherd School’s Chamber Orchestra will present its version of Mendelssohn’s Violin Concerto in E minor, Op. 64 and Ginestera’s Variaciones concertantes, Op. 23. Sergiu Luca, the Dorothy Richard Starling Professor of Violin, will perform a solo.
The following night, Dec. 4, the Shepherd School’s Symphony Orchestra will present Berlioz’s “Royal Hunt and Storm” from “Les Troyens,” Aaron Alon’s “Everest” and Dvorak’s Symphony No. 6 in D Major, Op. 60.
Both concerts will be held at 8 p.m. in Stude Concert Hall, Alice Pratt Brown Hall. The performances are both free and open to the public
