Martel College senior Carina Baskett received an Arbor Day Award from
Trees of Houston this week in honor of her arboreal contributions to
the city. In the past year, the ecology and evolutionary biology major
catalogued every one of Rice’s 4,781 trees.
“This helps our
community gain knowledge about the complexity of Rice’s forests,” said
Randi Cleary, marketing coordinator for Trees for Houston. “It is an
unbelievable accomplishment.”
The Arbor Day Awards honor
individuals, corporations and organizations that have made exceptional
contributions to the planting and preservation of trees in the Houston
area. Trees For Houston is a nonprofit organization dedicated to
planting, protecting and promoting trees. |
