Houston Mayor Annise Parker ’78 proclaimed Feb. 12 as Children’s AIDS Day in Houston and spoke at a conference held in Rice’s BioScience Research Collaborative (BRC) in honor of the occasion. Conference organizers rented the BRC’s first-floor auditorium for the public event. Pictured: Parker holds a framed poster commemorating Children’s AIDS Day while standing next to Rod Castle, CEO and co-founder of The Osito Foundation, a nonprofit organization that provides teddy bears to children who have been affected by HIV/AIDS. |
