Rice celebrates ‘Go Texan Day’ March 10 with campus events, discount Rodeo tickets
Students, faculty, staff, alumni and friends are invited to get out their western wear and take part as Rice embraces the Lone Star spirit and celebrates “Go Texan Day” March 10 with campus activities during the day and an evening at Rodeo Houston.

The day kicks off with cowboy breakfast tacos for $1.50 at Willy’s Statue from 7 to 10 a.m. Proceeds will benefit the HOOTS scholarship program. No time to lasso a taco? Grab some Texas-themed grub that will be served in the serveries and Faculty Club.
At noon, mosey on over to the Wiess College Commons for a free talk, “Rodeo 101,” by Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo Chairman Charles R. “Butch” Robinson ’71.
Rodeo tickets for March 10 are available for $10 at the information desk in the Ley Student Center, Rice Memorial Center. The ticket provides full-day access to the carnival, shopping, dining, exhibits and activities, championship rodeo and a live performance by Rascal Flatts. Tickets are available on a first-served basis, and payment is by cash or check only.
Meet at Willy’s Statue at 4 p.m. for a group photo of everyone in their western wear, and then join Rice’s Passport to Houston group as they ride the METRORail to Reliant Park.
