Utsi, a Belgian Malinois that serves as the canine ambassador for Children Against Mines Program (CHAMPS), demonstrates how she sniffs out explosive odors during a minefield simulation near Sewall Hall. CHAMPS Director Kimberly McCasland conducted the demonstration for world and human geography teachers attending the 16th annual Advanced Placement Summer Institute administered by Rice’s Susanne M. Glasscock School of Continuing Studies. The institute brings thousands of teachers from all over the U.S. and other countries to campus to improve their classroom skills. |
