The smell of success

The smell of success

JEFF FITLOW
Utsi, a Belgian Malinois that serves as the canine ambassador for
Children Against Mines Program (CHAMPS), demonstrates how she sniffs
out explosive odors during a minefield simulation near Sewall Hall.
CHAMPS Director Kimberly McCasland conducted the demonstration for
world and human geography teachers attending the 16th annual Advanced
Placement Summer Institute administered by Rice’s Susanne M. Glasscock
School of Continuing Studies. The institute brings thousands of
teachers from all over the U.S. and other countries to campus to
improve their classroom skills.
