Rice Cinema to screen 8 recent Spanish films Oct. 15-18
Rice’s Festival of New Spanish Films will feature a weekend of modern Spanish cinema Oct. 15-18. All of the films are recent productions, many of them winners of Goya Awards, the Spanish equivalent of the Oscars.
The festival will present eight films in four days — two films each night. All of them will be shown at Rice Cinema. Admission is free for Rice students, faculty members and staff with a valid Rice ID. Tickets for students from other universities, seniors and members of “La Casa de España” cost $5. General admission is $6. Rice Cinema also offers a Series Pass — all films for $40.
Filmmaker Adán Aliaga will be on hand to discuss his film “Stigmata” Oct. 16 at 7 p.m.
The festival was organized through Rice’s departments of Hispanic Studies and of Visual and Dramatic Arts and its Center for the Study of Languages, the Spanish Consulate, La Casa de España and Margarita de la Vega Huertado.
