Sally Ride Science Festival set for Nov. 6

Hundreds of Houston-area middle school girls are expected in Rice University’s Engineering Quad Nov. 6 for a day of learning and fun at the Sally Rice Science Festival.

The festival, which begins at 11 a.m., is designed to encourage fifth- through eighth-grade girls’ interest in science. It will feature a talk by astronaut Wendy Lawrence, discovery workshops led by scientists and engineers, workshops for parents and teachers on ways to support students’ interests in science and math and a street fair with booths, hands-on activities, food and music.
