Student-organized TEDx event at Rice April 2
TEDxRiceU will highlight the inspirational ideas of five Rice faculty

The innovative and inspirational research of five Rice faculty members will be featured April 2 in a student-organized conference inspired by the high-profile TED conferences.

TEDxRiceU, which is open to the public, will be 2-5 p.m. in Duncan Hall’s McMurtry Auditorium.

“Unlike what we usually find in traditional lecture-room settings, the presenters at TEDxRiceU will share the dreams, motivations and goals that drive and sustain their incredible works,” said conference organizer Eui Whan Moon, a senior at McMurtry College. “Through this event, my hope is that my peers and I will be inspired to pursue creative, if not unconventional, ways to use the valuable education we are gaining through Rice.”

The speakers at TEDxRiceU will be Richard Baraniuk, the founder of Connexions and the Victor E. Cameron Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering; Stephen Klineberg, co-director of Rice’s Kinder Institute for Urban Research and professor of sociology; Rebecca Richards-Kortum, the Stanley C. Moore Professor of Bioengineering and the founding director of Rice 360
