Rice University’s Carlos Jiménez, professor of architecture, gathered with President Barack Obama and Michelle Obama in Chicago last month at the presentation of this year’s Pritzker Architecture Prize. Jiménez stepped down from the Pritzker jury this year after 11 years of service to what is often referred to as “architecture’s Nobel Prize.” In addition to his work at the Rice School of Architecture, Jiménez has been recognized for his professional practice, Carlos Jiménez Studio. The Houston-based office is known for many residential projects as well as the Central Administration/Junior School Building for the Museum of Fine Arts in Houston, the W.L.S.
