FROM
RICE NEWS STAFF REPORTS
Amid one of the worst droughts in Houston’s recorded
history, the Rice Design Alliance will sponsor a free civic forum on the city’s
water issues on successive Wednesdays in August at the Museum of Fine Arts,
Houston.
“Water: Challenges Facing the Houston
Region” begins Aug. 24 with a discussion moderated by Houston Chronicle
science writer Eric Berger and Thomas Colbert, associate professor at the
University of Houston College of Architecture. The panel will focus on urban
growth and competition for water.
Part two of the forum, moderated by Colbert and KHOU investigative
reporter Mark Greenblatt, will focus on water quality issues and solutions to
water shortages.
The events are open to the public and will be held at
the museum’s Brown Auditorium. Details are available at http://ricedesignalliance.org/2011/water-challenges-facing-the-houston-region.
