Huey Huang, the Sam and Helen Worden Chair of Physics and Astronomy, was recognized with a 2012 Avanti Award in Lipids from the Biophysical Society for his “unique and seminal work that defines how drugs and pore-forming proteins and peptides interact with lipid bilayers.” He will be honored at the society’s awards symposium in February in San Diego.
Tomasz Tkaczyk, assistant professor of bioengineering, won the 2011 Paul F. Forman Engineering Excellence Award from the Optical Society of America (OSA). He was recognized for his robust cost-effective optical-imaging platform technologies that instantaneously provide multidimensional biological data. The award will be presented at OSA’s 95th annual meeting in October in San Jose, Calif.
