Some generous Rice students offered up a very personal gift during Childhood Cancer Awareness Month – their hair.
A dozen students clipped off their long ponytails Sept. 19 as part of Rice’s Colleges Against Cancer hair drive. More than 150 inches of hair were donated by the students to Locks of Love, a nonprofit organization that constructs custom wigs for children with diseases that claim their own hair. Pictured below are donors Cara Miekka, a McMurtry College sophomore (top); Ariel Guerrero, a Wiess College freshman (left); and Miri Shidate, a Martel College junior (right). |
