Rice community to celebrate MLK Day
Vigil, service projects among activities planned for Jan. 15-16
The Rice University community will celebrate Martin Luther King Jr. (MLK) Day by participating in a number of different events, including two Houston parades, service activities and Rice’s annual MLK vigil, which will feature remarks by the Rev. William Lawson, founding pastor of Wheeler Avenue Baptist Church in Houston. The events are free and open to the public.
What: Rice University’s annual MLK candlelight vigil and celebration.
When: 6 p.m. Jan. 15.
Where: Rice Memorial Center Chapel, 6100 Main St.
What: Rice University float in 34th annual Original MLK Birthday Parade.
When: 10 a.m. Jan. 16.

What: Rice University float in 18th annual MLK Grande Parade.
When: 10 a.m. Jan. 16.
