Baseball: Owls move to 5-0 with 12-4 victory over New Mexico State Feb. 22

The Rice baseball team got offensive with 12 runs and double-digit hits for the second time in as many nights, but right-handed pitcher Andrew Benak stole the show with a career-high 10 strikeouts in just 5.1 innings of work as the Owls coasted to a 12-4 victory over visiting New Mexico State Wednesday evening at Reckling Park.

Baseball: Owls remain unbeaten with 7-5 win over New Mexico State Feb. 21

Senior Michael Fuda went a career-best 4-for-5 with an RBI to lead a season 14-hit attack as the No. 4-ranked Rice baseball team claimed a 7-5 victory over visiting New Mexico State Tuesday evening at Reckling Park in Houston. The Owls stayed unbeaten (4-0) heading into Wednesday’s finale of the two-game midweek series against NMSU.

Opening weekend of Rice 2013 baseball season

For those who wait from June to February just to get back out to Reckling Park to see the beloved Owls play baseball, that time has finally come once again. The Owls opened with a three-game series over the weekend and promptly swept Florida International University, taking all three games. The first two games were held under some fairly moist conditions, but Sunday was beautiful. Many fans took advantage of the nice weather and headed out to watch.
