Glasscock School Photo Contest seeks shutterbugs to capture spirit of Rice

Deadline for entry is March 23

How do you see Rice? The Susanne M. Glasscock School of Continuing Studies wants to know.

As Rice marks its centennial this year, the Glasscock School is celebrating the unique photographic opportunities the campus provides — from the traditional and iconic to the unexpected and extraordinary — with the Glasscock School Photography Contest.

The photography contest seeks submissions that capture the spirit of Rice University. Members of the Rice community and the public can submit photos of campus, taken outdoors as can be seen by the public.

The photography contest seeks submissions that capture the spirit of Rice University. Members of the Rice community and the public can submit photos of the campus outdoors.

The deadline for entry is March 23.

First prize is $1,000, and the photo will be featured in the fall 2012 Glasscock School course catalog. Second prize is $500, and third prize is $250. The Glasscock Prize ($250) will be awarded to the entrant who has taken a photography class through the Glasscock School since January 2000.

Judges will be Peter Brown, photographer, author and instructor of photography at the Glasscock School since 1979; Bevin Bering Dubrowski, executive director of the Houston Center for Photography; and Paul Hester, lecturer in Rice’s Department of Visual and Dramatic Arts.
