Hindman Garden to be dedicated March 22

Owl sculptureRice University will dedicate the Milus E. Hindman Garden at 2 p.m. March 22.

Nestled among a grove of trees just east of Rice Memorial Chapel, the garden opened last fall and is not only a campus beautification project but also a recognition of the Rice Legacy Society.

The garden features an owl sculpture, pictured at right, by Geoffrey Dashwood, which was a gift of former trustee Ralph O’Connor and his wife, Becky. Limestone benches make it a quiet gathering space amid azaleas, wood ferns, Asian jasmine and impatiens.

Members of the Rice community are invited to attend.
