HackRice

Rice computer science students organized HackRice, an event held on campus March 10-11 to promote collaborative and social computer programming among Rice students. Participants built mobile and Web applications and demonstrated their creations to a panel of judges. More than $1,000 in prizes was awarded. From left, Nathan Alison, Damien Stone and Andrew Capshaw programmed an interactive Rice degree planner that won first place for Most User Friendly. HackRice was sponsored by Dropcam, SnapStream, Microsoft, Google, Datafiniti, Two Sigma Investments, Rackspace, Rice’s Department of Computer Science and George R. Brown School of Engineering and Scott Cutler, professor in the practice of computer technology.
