Rice Employee Assistance Program has new provider

Rice faculty and staff now have access to a new provider for the Rice Employee Assistance Program: the University of Texas Employee Assistance Program (UTEAP), located in the Texas Medical Center. UTEAP replaced LifeWorks Sept. 1.

Among the offerings are counseling sessions with a licensed mental health professional, legal and financial resources and assistance with alcohol and drug problems.

“UTEAP came highly recommended by other Texas institutions of higher education,” said Mary Cronin, Rice associate vice president for human resources. “We believe that they will be able to provide a superior level of service to our employee community.”

The main services will not change. Rice employees and their families or other significant people in their lives can still receive three free counseling sessions per issue they encounter. The services will still be available 24/7 and the high level of confidentiality will still be maintained.

“We have already begun consulting with UTEAP and have been very satisfied with their response,” Cronin said.

Information about Rice’s Employee Assistance Program can be found on the Human Resources website at http://people.rice.edu/eap.
