Rice engineers show and tell

Student teams will demonstrate their inventions Thursday at Engineering Showcase and Poster Competition

HOUSTON – (April 8, 2013) – More than 80 teams of Rice University engineering students will be at center court at Tudor Fieldhouse April 11 for the annual Design Showcase and Poster Competition, where they will demonstrate their senior capstone design and other projects.

The inventions include life-saving equipment created in cooperation with Texas Medical Center institutions, devices to enhance the lives of animals at the Houston Zoo, projects with NASA and oil and gas producers and more whimsical creations.

The event is free and open to the public from 4:30 to 7 p.m. The grand-prize-winning team will receive $5,000, while $500 prizes will go to the winners in 14 other categories.

An awards ceremony for the winning teams will be held at 6:30 p.m. Read about the participating teams here.
