Former Houston Mayor Bill White to join discussion about restoring state park funding
Former Houston Mayor Bill White will headline a meeting of state park supporters April 17 at Rice University.
Titled “Keep Texas Parks Open,” the colloquium begins at noon in Rice Memorial Center’s Grand Hall.
White will be joined by panelists John Crompton of Texas A&M University, George Bristol of the Texas Coalition for Conservation and Anne Olson of the Buffalo Bayou Partnership in leading a discussion about how to restore funding for Texas parks to ensure that future generations may continue to enjoy the outdoors.
The event is sponsored by Rice’s Center for the Study of Environment and Society and the Rice Environmental Club. Co-sponsors include the Sierra Club, Texas Audubon Society, Texas Interfaith Power and Light, Texas League of Conservation Voters Education Fund, Houston Parks Board and Buffalo Bayou Partnership.
