Maria, meet Maria

Maria Oden, director of the Oshman Engineering Design Kitchen, came across this bus stop billboard during her recent visit to the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. She and Rebecca Richards-Kortum, director of the Rice 360°: Institute for Global Health Technologies, were there to accept this year’s Lemelson-MIT Award for Global Innovations. Oden and Richards-Kortum are donating the $100,000 prize to their Day One Project to build a neonatal ward at a hospital in Malawi to help implement new health care technologies developed at Rice.
