Barbour, Cisneros and Chertoff to speak at Rice University’s Baker Institute

HOUSTON – (June 28, 2013) – A Bipartisan Policy Center (BPC) conversation on border security, its role in reform and the implications for border communities will be held at Rice University’s Baker Institute for Public Policy from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. July 11. BPC Immigration Task Force co-chairs Haley Barbour and Henry Cisneros and task force member Michael Chertoff will lead the discussion.

As Congress grapples with immigration reform, border security remains a critical component of the debate. Barbour, Cisneros and Chertoff will talk about why many in Congress — and around the country — consider securing the southern border and effectively enforcing the country’s immigration laws essential to reforming the U.S. immigration system.

Henry Cisneros, former secretary of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban
Development and co-chair of BPC Immigration Task Force;

Michael Chertoff, former secretary of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security,
chairman and co-founder of the Chertoff Group and member of BPC Immigration Task Force.
