Shell Center for Sustainability to present findings of Houston Sustainability Indicators report Oct. 9

HOUSTON – (Oct. 3, 2013) – Rice University’s Shell Center for Sustainability will present the central findings of “Sustainable Development of Houston Districts: The Health of the City,” part of the Houston Sustainable Indicators (HSI) project, at a town hall meeting Oct. 9 on the Rice campus.

What: Presentation of findings from “Sustainable Development of Houston Districts: The Health of the City,” part of the Houston Sustainability Indicators project.

When: 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 9.

Where: BioScience Research Collaborative Auditorium, located at 6500 Main St.

“The event is an opportunity for community discussion and prioritization through consensus of important issues at the neighborhood level,” said Lester King, author of the report and a sustainability fellow for the Shell Center.

The HSI project is funded by the Shell Center for Sustainability and designed to generate facts and measure how well Houston is doing in terms of development using the 25 identified sustainable development indicators for the city. The report may help identify policies and programs to assist in enhancing Houston’s sustainable development. The report was released Sept. 23 and will be available in its entirety at the presentation.
