Rice University’s Barbara and David Gibbs Recreation and Wellness Center is among the 20 most impressive college gyms and student recreation centers, according to a new ranking from Best Value Schools.
The rankings were assigned based on Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design, or LEED, rating, facility design, available space per student and equipment for sports and fitness and amenities beyond traditional fitness facilities (such as multipurpose activity courts).
“We are incredibly proud to operate an award-winning and vibrant facility,” said Elizabeth Slator, associate director of the Gibbs Recreation Center. “It’s beautifully designed, and outfitted with top of the line technology. This, combined with high-quality, diverse programs and services, makes the Gibbs Recreation Center one of the most dynamic spaces on campus.”
